What is a Domain Name?

A domain name is your unique identity on the web. It helps identify who you are and what your business stands for. Technically speaking, when you set up your website, the host company associates your domain name with their IP addresses (nameservers). The Domain Name System then knows to assiciate your domain name with your hosts IP address so any requests to your domain name will display your site.
